How to use the tool
- Open Spec Writer from the sidebar
- Select or type the specification subject (e.g., "structural steel", "exterior waterproofing", "acoustical ceiling tile")
- Select the CSI division if known, or let the AI select automatically
- Add any project-specific requirements (proprietary products, special conditions, sustainability requirements)
- Click Generate Spec
Customizing the output
After generation you can:
- Edit any section inline within the app
- Accept or reject individual clauses
- Add proprietary product names or substitution language
- Adjust warranty terms
- Toggle between open specification and proprietary specification formats

You should always review and customize the spec for your specific project conditions, local codes, and client requirements before including it in a contract document.
Does it support international standards (British Standards, Eurocodes)? The tool is optimized for US standards. International standards support is on the roadmap.
Can I save custom spec templates? Yes. After editing a spec, you can save it as a template in your organization library for reuse on future projects. Go to Past Reports and click Save as Template.
